Dear CARL Members,
As many colleges and universities around the state have been making plans about how to address Covid-19, the CARL Conference Planning Team has been doing the same. At this time, we are not planning on cancelling the conference, although we may be shifting to offering it virtually. We have developed contingency plans to address the following:
First, if we continue as planned with our in-person conference, we are investigating the feasibility of providing a web conferencing option in the event that a presenter is unable to travel to the conference. We will not be recording or streaming the conference for attendees who cancel.
Second, we will be extending cancellation refunds to provide a 50% refund (minus $10 processing fee) until March 30. While we would like to offer a full refund for those who cannot attend, our contract with the hotel precludes us from doing so. If you are considering cancelling your travel to the conference, we would ask that you wait until after March 20 to cancel your registration. If you cancel your registration prior to March 20, and we move the conference online, you will be ineligible to attend the virtual sessions.
Lastly, March 20 is our cutoff date to make a decision about moving the conference online in lieu of holding an in-person conference. This decision will be made based on recommendations from government health agencies and recommendations/policies from California colleges and universities. We will notify presenters and attendees no later than March 23, with information regarding access to the virtual sessions.
